Check-in Requirements

• • All guests must present a valid government-issued photo ID and a credit card at check-in.

• • Guests must be 18 years or older to check in. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

• • Payment for reservations must be completed via a secure payment link provided by the hotel prior to arrival.

 

Payment Policy

• • Non-Refundable Reservations: Payment is required at the time of booking and is non-refundable under any circumstances.

• • Standard Rate Reservations: Full payment will be charged five (5) days prior to the scheduled arrival date.
    • • The card provided by the guest by the time of booking may be charged at any time when there are 5 or fewer days until arrival, as the booking becomes non-refundable at that time.

• • Reservations made through third-party websites will be charged by the third party at the time of booking.

 

Cancellation Policy

• • Non-Refundable Reservations: These reservations can be canceled at any time, but no refunds will be issued.

• • Standard Rate Reservations: Cancellations are free of charge up to five (5) days before the scheduled arrival date. Any cancellation made within five days of arrival will result in the full charge for the stay.

Pet Policy

• • Pets and service animals are not permitted on the property under any circumstances.

 

Right to Refuse Service

• • The hotel reserves the right to refuse service or accommodation without a refund in cases where there is reasonable certainty that the guest:
    • • Causes considerable disturbance to the staff or other guests.
    • • Is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
    • • Engages in abusive or threatening behavior toward staff or other guests.
    • • Poses a danger to the safety or well-being of staff or other guests.

 

Smoking Policy

• • Hótel Jökulsarlón is a non-smoking property.

• • Guests are permitted to smoke only in the designated smoking area, located to the left of the main entrance.
    • • Guests will have to vacate the doors, ensuring that smoke is not a nuisance to guests and staff entering and exiting the building.

• • Smoking inside the hotel or in any non-designated areas will result in a room recovery fee of 50.000 ISK to cover the cost of restoring the room to a smoke-free condition.
  • Smoking inside the guest room will result in an eviction without refund.

 

Food and Beverage Policy

• • Bringing outside food and beverages into any public areas of the hotel—including the lobby, bar, lounges, restaurant, gym, and outdoor areas—is strictly forbidden.

• • Our breakfast buffet is to be enjoyed in the restaurant only.

 

Outdoor Area with Hot Tubs and Sauna

• • Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian when using the outdoor area, including the hot tubs and sauna.

• • The outdoor area is not monitored, and the hotel is not liable for accidents or injuries.

• • Bathing suits must be worn at all times in the hot tubs and sauna.

 

Group Reservation Policy

• • Reservations of more than four (4) rooms are considered group reservations, and specific group cancellation terms will apply.

• • For groups larger than 10 guests, a group menu must be selected in order for all guests to dine at the same time.

 

Force Majeure

• • Force majeure circumstances may be invoked if local authorities close roads to the hotel, making access impassable for more than 24 hours.

• • Weather conditions such as snowstorms or bad weather do not qualify as force majeure unless the hotel is completely unreachable due to an official road closure.

 

Liability

• • Hótel Jökulsarlón is not responsible for any personal injuries, loss, or damage to personal belongings that occur during a guest’s stay.

 

Other Terms

• • The hotel maintains the right to modify these terms at any time, and any updates will be effective immediately for future reservations.
